Co-Habitation
Design symbiosis of dwelling that create synergy relationship and pragmatically improving the precarious living condition of community
In the field of architecture in urban design, attention for sharing, community building and happiness is increasing. In part, it is a response to the modern paradox that opposite globalization and individualization there is a growing desire for security, social bonds and community. The growing urban population makes a heavy appeal on scarce space. Globally, urbanization will continue even for the Public Housing Loke Yew as well as the number of households in urban areas will increase. The DBKL policy ambition is to try and accommodate this growth in inner-cities, which leads to more dense and compact cities. However, this project analysis shows that despite living in closer proximity to each other, there is less interaction among the people of Loke Yew. In contrast, people feel increasingly lonely and are less connected. This is an alarming finding, especially since loneliness and social isolation prone to great public health hazard.
